Lessons Learned at Work this Week

1) If you are going to accidentally sign the entire company up for a scam which will cost them $40 a month for as long as we all shall live, do it on your first day when the office is undergoing an internal audit. This way, no one gets the blame.

2) There is such a thing as a free lunch. That is if you are too busy to leave the office for a lunch hour and your boss is legally required to give you a break.

3) When answering your phone, never assume anything. It might be your father. Calling with a reference for you. After you got the job. On your first day.

and finally

4) Get in with the security guards. You never know when it will pay off.

I assume this means you've joined the rest of the wired (or wireless!) world! Hooray! Hmmm - love to know the stories behind these lessons, and hope that you are still smiling after your first week . . .
