AdvancesThis morning, my husband left for Home Depot to get some screws and sheet-rock anchors. He came home with a cordless drill, of course.
This seems to me to be a crossroad of sorts. We have a cordless drill - what's next? A power sander? A mortgage? Children? Life is leaping by us, I see. In the meantime, we are happily making progress on settling in - you know, making curtains, painting things, really liking our pots and pans. While we do have large piles of "what the heck do we do with this" paraphenalia, we have a lot we are quite pleased with.
So come over sometime after next week, if you can. Stay awhile. We'll make you tea.
[Note: This is an over-dramatization. We are not having children next. And we probably won't have a power sander any time soon either.]

Oh, how I would love to come and have tea! We could share your special pot with the violets and shooting stars on it. I love you Lizzy!

My dear Lizzie -
A man can never have enough power tools, sadly you must accept this now. I've been spending the last month sorting 30 years of "memorabilia", and as I pass through the full to the brim garage to the shed to get another box to sort, I wonder how we got from loaned furniture and cast-off pots and pans to this morass of "stuff." Sweet times, making those first apartments into homes. Wish I could come for tea also,

We thought of you (Liz) last night. We went to see Alison Krauss in concert, and she totally reminded us of you. We miss you (both of you).

I'm chagrined that Ben is just now getting a drill. Most men his age wouldn't let their wives admit that. Ben, there's hope for you yet--please tell me you have some kind of weaponry! Guns, swords, nunchukas...

Eric, you should know that Curl didn't get his first cordless drill until he was 25. Ben surpassed him by 3 yrs! Furthermore, he was travelling, man, there wasn't room amidst his three shirts to have a cordless drill.

All I have to say for myself is 200 clay pigeons, a shotgun and cowboy boots. If you need confirmation, ask my dad, he threw the pigeons.
